Durand Schools is now offering a $500 signing bonus to new drivers, and an additional $1,000 bonus if the driver remains employed through the duration of the school year. Additionally, the district will pay for all fees and training to become a driver.
Anyone interested should call Transportation Direction, John Smyth, at 989-288-5060.
Meanwhile, McCrumb notes the district's greatest area of concern related to the Coronavirus pandemic, is busses.
He said if a family is able to self-transport, it could potentially greatly help the situation, and asks parents of students riding the bus to remind their students to respect the driver and the need to wear a mask.
"Though people have varying thoughts on masks, we are simply trying to maintain the health and safety of our staff and students," he said.
